Abdullah Abdullah, the frontrunner of 2019 presidential elections, is set to kick-start the implementation of his widespread plan from the North after rejecting the announcement of final presidential election results.
A source within the Stability and Convergence Team led by Abdullah said they have a widespread program which they have started to implement from the North , particularly from northern Sar-e Pul province.
The source further added that the supporters of the team have arrived in Sar-e Pul and have ousted the current provincial governor of the province.
He also added that the supporters of Stability and Convergence Team are due to announce Rahmani, the Provincial Council Chief of Sar-e Pul as its new governor.
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced the final election results late on Tuesday, declaring Ashraf Ghani as the President of Afghanistan.
Russia had warned against worsening political situation after the release of the final results of presidential elections which the key contenders of the race including Abdullah Abdullah rejected.
Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Russia said "We noted that Ashraf Ghanis key rival in the presidential campaign - Chief Executive of the Unity Government Abdullah Abdullah - did not recognise the results announced by the Election Commission and announced the creation of a parallel government."
Zakharova further added "There is information that other presidential contenders may support this position."
"Russia is concerned about the controversy around the results of the presidential election in Afghanistan, which could further worsen the political situation in the country," she said, adding that "All this could have a negative impact on the launch of an inter-Afghan peace process."
